Saturday, December 7th we competed at the Chamblee Regional FLL Tournament. We had a blast, meeting other teams and competing. We were judged in the three areas of the competition: Core Values, Project and Robot Design. At the robot table we had a high score of 230 points. We earned the title of GRAND CHAMPIONS! Now we are on to the Super Regionals on January 11th!
The Atlanta Beltline has many other events besides walking. One of them is the Lantern Parade. We are using the Lantern Parade as an inspiration for presentation in FLL competition. The lantern Parade connects with are project because our project is that we have too many underutilized outdoor spaces at Oak Grove. Our solution is to beltline our school. These is based off of the beltline which connects with the Lantern Parade. Stay tuned for more about the Lantern Parade.
Meryl Vaughan The Grove Bots have met with two developers from the Beltline, Nancy Newell and Dwayne Vaughn. We told them that Oak Grove Elementary (OGE) has too many underutilized outdoor spaces. We took them on a tour of our school and its outdoor spaces. They gave us some suggestions. One of them was to make zones for the Beltline. They told us that to get people involved we should have a naming contest. We thought that this is a great idea. We are thinking about doing this. Once we are done with our section we will have a grand opening to also get people involved. This is a great idea and we would like to do it soon.
