The FLL topic this year is City Shaper which is about improving our city, town, or community. To start, the Grovebots came up with a list of buildings and public spaces in our city. The Atlanta Beltline was one of the spaces on our list, and I think it's one of the most important places in Atlanta. We decided to take a field trip to the Beltline, and after seeing all the art, color, beauty, and nature there, we came back and walked around our own school and it just seemed bland.
We also noticed that although we do have a lot of great outdoor spaces here at Oak Grove, Based on the results of a survey, we found out that most of our teachers want to take kids outside more, but they don't. So we came with a solution. Using the Beltline as inspiration, we decided to create a path connecting these spaces and add art and color, music, and activities to it.
