From our research, more than 289,000,000 tons of waste are put into landfills each year. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, plastics and Styrofoam contribute 13% of that amount of waste. We have visited the Whole Foods Grocery Store as a team for a tour and questions and answers session with the store manager. Select team members visited mainstream grocery stores such as Publix and Kroger. The problem is: How can we decrease the amount of consumer waste from grocery stores that is currently going into our landfills?
We set out to create a reusable and washable grocery shopping kit. The Kit is collapsible and can fit in a shopping cart. Our Kit consists of one large collapsible basket with six color coded bags. The red bag is insulated. Green is for produce and the rest are miscellaneous.
In order for the public to become aware of our product, we would like to partner with a grocery store and give out ten free trial kits. We will include e-mail information in the kit for them to write a review. If our product has positive results we will then sell our kit from the grocery store. We hope to sell this for 20-30$.
The 3G kit is a collapsible zero-waste kit that helps reduce the amount of waste used by consumers, from the grocery store. It's not just a tote bag, it's a system.
There are six color-coded bags which are labeled as..
Red: meat
Green: produce
Blue: frozen products
Orange: beverages
Yellow: bulk section
Purple: miscellaneous
